You are completely correct. I think most of us double-furloughees feel so beaten down by management and forgotten by ALPA that we have just walked away as the future feels hopeless.

I can tell you one thing, and I hope I speak for most of my double-furloughed brethren, if we, the 2172/1450 ever get together in the same cause, we will be galvanized. After all that we have been through I feel about as close to any of these individuals as I would a squadron buddy in any deployment. It is an unwanted status, but one which when you meet another, you can't help but drink heavily, vent and feel better after spending time around somebody else who truly understands what kind of career "hell" we have/are going through. I don't think any of us will ever forget all that has happened.

Peace-

Between the two furloughs, I'm over 6 1/2 years furloughed since being hired June 2000.

On the trust issue, I rank ordered my trust prior to the merger:
1 CAL MEC
2 CAL management
3 UAL management
4 UAL MEC

I doubt that I'm alone in that assessment.

Just don't ask me about:
Increasing every pilot's hours to offset paycuts in C2003 (added a couple of years to my first furlough)
Unlimited RJs; Whiteford had approval from the rest of UAL's MEC.
Age 65 and how that extends our current furloughs
The division of the convertible note. Side note for 2172ers - retired pilots received $44M from UALALPA; any chance of starting a lawsuit against UALALPA? United Airlines pilots union to pay $44M to settle lawsuit by some members | Law | Crain's Chicago Business

On the subject of CAL recalls...

Now that the CAL recall response is complete, is there any UPDATED word on CAL staffing plans in regards to the last vacancy bid triggering UAL calls?

I haven't heard anything. Still waiting for a class date myself.

Did CAL have some unfilled vacancies from the last recall?

When would we see UAL guys wearing a CAL uniform?

We "should" have another system bid in January (from CPO) that will take into effect the vacation bid that finally just closed, the updated 787 delivery schedule, and the response rate of our own recalls returning vs/ staying out on leave (s).

There should be more information out regarding calling UAL guys after that - for what it's worth.

Great list Andy- this has been a load of crap from UAL ALPO. Yes, there was a class action lawsuit against UALALPA from the convertible note. I talked with a lawyer at the law firm and he was adament that we had a case but of course, the judge didn't see it that way and dismissed it. UAL MEC's formula for the note was truly a travesty.

Did you get that golden AD retirement yet? Defense money is drying up (AFRC anyway) as the social costs are escalating. Go figure.........

ERJ,

Based on the last system bid results, we waited for information about CAL recall returns to see if any extra slots would be left. Unofficially we hear rumors that it was about 40 pilots short.

EWRflyr's post 9-29 #12 regarding the last bid as an example;

...Yes, the company is getting all the responses from the furloughed pilots. Once they have an idea of how many are returning, they can assign class dates in seniority order. Several are on military leaves or other longer-term commitments or have moved on. So I would expect that the most junior guys will train before April and maybe closer to January. Once the company knows how many of the 147 are returning they can condense that list and see how many slots are left to offer furloughed UA guys...

Did they already determine that there would be no slots left for UAL pilots as a result of the last system bid?

Honestly, I just don't think they are letting that information out yet.

We probably are 40 short, or more.
Not to mention any effect the NPRM will have.

However, the school house is pretty much full with recalling all of our guys, plus back filling guys into the 777 so they are not short when the 787 comes along.

With no slots left in the school house till at least March anyway (my best guess), there is no rush to call any UAL guys.

We're not even projected to have a system bid till March, however, at the CPO pizza meeting last week he said they would "probably" move it up to Jan like it usually is.

Beeker,

Thanks for all your updates. I think you are spot on that they holding back the information. Just not sure why.

Let us know when you get a class date.

Thanks again Beeker,
