Im going out on a limb here, but I think the skipper decides who gets a ride and who doesnt.

Actually, buried deep within an ALPA admin manual is a bit about the F/O also being able to say that they object to a jumpseater riding.

Additionally, if the SIC feels like it would detract from good CRM and be a distration then that's the end of it -- the jumpseater can't go. That particular reason would only be valid for the actual jumpseat itself.

ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME?!

Does the idea of any pilot bearing a sticker like that even pass the smell test?

NO ONE at SkyWest (OR ANYWHERE) has such a bag-tag.

So no, DocW, YOU ARE WRONG, LYING, STOKING A WAR WITH FLAME-BAIT, OR ANY COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE.

FOCUS YOUR ENMITY ON THE DECEIT OF YOUR MANAGEMENT, NOT YOUR FELLOW PILOT!

RANT OVER!

A lot of absolutes there, are you that certain? I mean, I've never seen a Sasquatch (well, I've seen a few that come pretty close), but people swear they've seen 'em roamin' around in the woods n such.

Flame bait or not, I hope SKW pilots don't stoop to the level some Shuttle E170 guys did with the infamous "guppy killer" tags... if I weren't in public, I'd have probably spit on their bag when I DID see them.

What amazes me is that those same Republic guys are enabling scope busting as well out of EWR flying 170s but for some reason SKYW guys are the only bad guys in this drama. Furthermore, after the merger/buy-out/whatever the new "Republic/Shuttle/Frontier" is a direct competitor to the new UAL/CAL and is being funded by this outsourcing!

Why not the outrage there?!

Perhaps if such a tag does exist you could cross out the word "scope" and write in "career"

does it look like this?

Valid point, information I was not entirely aware of until now. Let's get the pitchforks...

It's understandable that the pilots themselves really have no control over management decisions other than the obvious extremes. But, I have absolutely no tolerance for flaunting your advantage in the situation, rather than condemning the business practices of the Companies involved.

This rumour appeared on the CO site as well and was quickly squashed.
I agree that mgmt, not other pilots is the only adversary and I for one will not be participating in any stupid jump seat wars. Both sides have way more to lose than to gain and by the way right now things are heating up regarding EXJT's new non rev agreement.

The only problem I ever have in interactions Skywest guys, (and forget the occasional sanctimonious demeanor) is the general failure to understand that any benefits or relative wage parity with unionized carriers they enjoy in their working agreement is solely the result of gains achieved by unionized pilot groups. Skywest management keeps them about the same to prevent Alpa from being voted in. Worked at Delta with their FA's for years. You wanna stay non-union, fine, but realize without pilot unions WE would ALL be much worse off. Enjoy your free ride. Rant off.
