As a twice furloughed UAL pilot I don't follow closely whats going on at UAL/CAL. I have no idea if you would ever be allowed to strike or not. As I won't have any input on the vote all I can say is do what you think is best.
But lets just suppose you are allowed to strike. How will the company try to break it? Will they just close the doors, will they expect lots to cross the picket line as with the BA F/A strikes. The company there is ready for the next one and says 80% will fly as normal. Will they hire strike breakers? Will they fire all the pilots? Will they deny benefits to strikers like BA? Will they recall all of us furloughed pilots and what would be the repercussions of us saying no. Would we subject to being fired too? What if some say yes?
I'm not in anyway suggesting what I would or not do. I just want some discussion of what everyone thinks management may do and how everyone can prepare themselves to reduce any negative impact on their lives.
