Without going into any details on a public forum, if you are interested in how the company JCBA negotiations are going, I urge you to call your reps and get an update after the next MEC meeting. (I know UAL's is sometime this week).
After a conversation I had with my rep, it's very clear to me that building my strike fund quickly needs to be a top priority.

I think most of the pilots know that negotiations aren't going exceedingly well and a 30 day cooling-off period is somewhere in the foreseeable future. What I don't see is UCAL ****ing away a few billion on a 30 day strike. As tight as Smisdick is, if we actually go past the cooling period to self-help, it won't last long cause if it does, UCAL is over and a strike fund is a moot point. I'm approaching it from the point of paying off as much debt as I can this year.

I hate to bring up the 10,000 lbs gorilla in the room, BUT what are the odds that Obama intervenes to stop a strike? Chicago based airline, Chicago politics. Just take a look at where new Chief of Staff Bill Daley worked before his recent 'promotion'. JP Morgan is the true puppet master of this merger...

The day to start saving for a "strike" is the day you get hired...not now.
Plus there has not been any information given by the Union that is suggesting a strike...anything else is someones "opinion". Usually a person that goes through life with seeing the glass 1/2 empty will carry those "opinions" everywhere they go.

BUT what happens if "He" does NOT intervene & the Strike looms??? Eitherway, simple math tells me to save my "Benjamin's" and be prepared....if your not doing so....you have NO one to blame but yourself if the "odds" go against your very real hypothisis drawn above.
Since when is 'being prepared' going to kill you in this industry, or life in general??

SWEET!! Just the kind of pilot we need in our union....."reactive vs PROactive".
Skippy, please go back to your hole and do not come out till the Merger is complete.....then wait an additional week for good measure.
Thank you.

However, for those who "do not/or did not" get that info on Day 1 of indoc, starting NOW is a MUST......IF not, you may very well turn into a "Skippy".
Good words to live by as an airline pilot.

That's the argument ALPA would make to the president. There is leverage in a strike looming and Smisek will be under pressure to get the thing settled, as will be argued. If a strike is allowed to happen at a company of this size, Smisek will have failed everyone in his duties: the shareholders, the passengers, the employees.
Get an "Amen Brother"???
