Which for a 1st year longevity pilot that doesn't break guaranty takes an overall pay cut going from training to the line.
YES, I KNOW per diem is for meals and NOT to be counted as "income", just sayin' the overall dollar amount on the paycheck will will be less.

The Marriot is at the airport, which can be nice, but you'll get sick of it without a car. The food is expensive. I'd often go into the terminal to eat. $12 for a hamburger is way too much for me. JFK has more options in food, but nothing great. Overall, the area sucks. Have fun.

How much is per diem again? Is it $1.85 or $1.95? Do they schedule classes so that you can go home on fridays and be back on Sunday night? Do you get a break between Basic Indoc and systems class? How soon after classes do they have to schedule your IOE?

During Basic Indoc and systems you get out of class on friday early enough to get home on friday and you can come back sunday night or maybe monday morning depending on the start time. Once sim starts you still get two days off but you might not finish early enough on the last day of the block to make it home that day.
The breaks between Indoc and systems and sim is about the length of a weekend. But some people had longer because they were cancelling sim sessions because they had to have instructors out on the line. They scrambled to fill some of my slots.
There was one or two random 3 day breaks for me, if I remember correctly.
The break before IOE was about 5 days for me. Some people chose to have less, for a specific reason, some had maybe a whole week. The Guam people were given a bit more because of the move out there but it seemed like even less time since they were moving out there.
