It could be argued that the plastic plane did a fine job in that incident. It remained intact and floated long enough for all to survive. I think that speaks volumes for the plane. The engines were not manufactured by airbus and ultimately were the reason for the crash. Apples and oranges I know, but germane to the discussion.
