Poor verbiage on my part. She picked up furloughee hiring as an additional duty. She has turned those duties over to CV and is now concentrating on her primary job.

I was just about to ask the same thing. Hate to see C.N. go. She's a great lady.

Heard that CAL MEC folks confirmed they expects training to shutdown for summer because they need max bodies on the line. So it seems for now if your not in by April then classes won't resume until fall. Also heard they expect all furloughees to be offered the new hire opportunity by about that time to later fall. The question becomes what United will do (truly recall) by then in anticipation of Age 65 or if they will just trim the pilot ranks through retirements for awhile until there's no meat on the bone and then periodically recall a few at a time until the effects of age 65 really kick in. That I believe is largely due to the pax demand and the effect AA's reduction capacity may have regarding UCH's desire to park older equipment early.

Of course, that is real crystal ball stuff but plausible they won't shrink much more if at all due to the pax at the counter willing to pay these ticket prices and fees. I would venture to guess if they can take a buck they'll delay parking the tired gear awhile longer.

So long story short, like we have all surmised many times it seems fall this year before anything major happens to remove the 1437 off the street....but in this business you never know....lots of other variables out there than can really turn this upside down.

My apologies. I've now edited the original post so that others don't think that CN left CAL. I had previously spoken to her on this issue - someone else taking over pilot hiring duties full time - and foolishly wrote my original post as if everyone was aware that those duties had been taken over by someone else. Sorry for the confusion.

Not to nit pick, but it's been like that for years - except when we're furloughing.

End of April/early May till mid-September, the training department/check airman are either flying their asses off, or on vacation; since they're "usually" senior enough to get summer vacation weeks awarded.

So really, this is not "new" news.

Was not meant to be "new" news. There was speculation, rumors and reports this year might be different but that has been denied from reliable sources. There were some who were hoping classes would continue this summer unlike in the past.

The 2005-2007 LCAL hires show hire dates year round, including summer.
