Yes, true, but #1 the economy was better and the airline was more properly or should I say "less understaffed" during that time. #2 is if you look at the class size of those years you will notice the summer class sizes are about a third of normal and not run as frequently as other times of the year.

I'll agree with smaller summer classes in 2006 and 2007 but 2005 looks like the class sizes and frequency remained constant even through the summer.

I really don't expect to be recalled for three years maybe more.

With more than 400 mandatory age 65 retirements/year, the company would have to shrink considerably for you to not be recalled for three years.

Woo hoo!!!! Now they only need to send out about 535 more letters to get to me!!!! :p

I expect at least another 125 or so letters to fill the April classes. We'll have to wait and see if they continue with these class sizes through the summer, reduce class sizes, or shut down training for the summer. Worst case scenario, you should be offered a class with a start date prior to Halloween.

I hope that is all correct and Short Bus wears his hat to class for haloween, but the common intel suggests the school house will shutdown for the summer and open up back in fall. How does that affect things?

Hmmm. I listed three scenarios. What do you think would be worst case for him?

They need to add a face palm emoticom.

I expect shrinkage from a combined UAL/CAL. Retirements will help, but not enough.

Ok keyboard tough guy. If he's 535 down and has Sept/OCt classes avail due summer shutdown then at the 5 to 1 ratio they'll need to do 2 classes of 27 each to get to him for Haloween class. The summer slow/shutdown came straight from the CAL MEC Chair. Perhaps that's not reliable info in
Forumland. What is known is the level of maturity and general civility on these sites has descended to about that of a government run daycare.

Y'all have at it.

In unity, on the back deck, fishin in the Keys, computer blessedly off.

Oops. You forgot that the April classes won't be filled with the current job offers - in fact there should still be openings in the first April class after this current round of offers. There should be less than 400 remaining after the second April class is filled. ... and Charlie Venema confirmed a second April class on Thursday. As for reliable info, I'd consider the latest information from the person who's actually filling the classes more reliable than third hand information from the MEC Chair.

Now do the math based on that data. Oops.

Jeesh, lighten up Francis!

I think he was just being humorous. Say what you will, but Andy does his homework and provides better information than 99% of the posters on this daycare sight. Of course it's all still speculation at this point- like he said, we'll just have to wait and see...
