Hey ,

I am another airline employee trying to jumpseat on united, anyways i'm getting the run around trying to figure out how to list myself.

does anyone know how to avoid the listing fee (which is required to list yourself via telephone). They said use the ifc.id90.com website, but I only know how to list myself on my own airline from there. Any help would be appreciated.

Should I just list myself at the gate the day of?

Listing in advance is only available to UAL pilots and is a carry over from pre-merger CAL.

There is no requirement or ability for an offline pilot to list for the jump seat in advance, go to the gate.

Show up at the gate early if you can there is still lots of confusion about how to list jump seaters with some CSR's.

 

If possible, also try to intercept someone from the crew to make sure they are aware you are trying to Jumpseat. Many of us do the Jumpseat walk, but you up your odds considerably if the agents are having trouble when the crew knows you are out there. See you on the jumpseat

Many of the UA gate agents still have problems figuring out how to use the computer system.. If they spell your name wrong or put the wrong airline code in, they just give up and say I cant get cass to work or the lazy ones tell you that you should have listed online..
If the crew knows you are there, your chances go up exponentially..

As an employee I was recently almost screwed by the new reservations system, and an overworked gate agent who wouldn't take the time to troubleshoot why I was not appearing on the JS list. Fortunately I was
able to speak with the CA, otherwise I would have been left behind, and I work for this fine outfit !

This week there were 6 agents working one flight. The majority of the pax were on the plane when I got there and the agents were totally stressed out and confused. There were PLENTY of seats open. I did not list and you would have thought that I was asking for the keys to her house. I didn't plan on the flight until the last second, so how was I supposed to list?

"You'll just have to go stand over there....don't you know you're SUPPOSED to list!!....We have a new system now!" etc etc etc. She was so very pleasant and helpful. I can just hear her talking to our pax like that.

Finally she got me the slip and told me to "you take a seat in Coach!" I think she was spitting when she said it. There were 3 or 4 FC seats open, and Econ Plus was open.

The last 20 mins of boarding were a disorganized fiasco with 6 agents. How do they get a whale out on time?

I work for AE and I was planning on Jumpseating on United to CUN. I read the ALPA international Jumpseating agreement and it appears all I do is show up at the ticket counter and they can take care of it there as long as they have an open seat in the back. It also appears that the Jumpseat can actually be assigned at the discretion of the captain. Has anyone done this lately? Has anything changed? Thanks.
