We should use that to our advantage and not be kept in the dark. What is the difference between asking pilot on this forum what the “must haves” are on the next contact vs. asking them in secret where others are not privy to that conversation. How are we suppose to make informed decisions based on limited information and who controls that information?.....

Great point- this has perturbed me for years. I think the answer, unfortunately, is ALPO isnt going to commit to anything that resembles a firm requirement since that would limit their negotiating latitude. Personally, I think we should state clearly what is acceptable and leave it at that. Either the planes move or they stay at the gate. Mgt has the choice.

Carpe Diem

no control just opinions

Thanks for answering but the question was for the original poster of the list Ottolillienthal. Hang in there we'll get a good JCBA - guys on here have no control just opinions.

whoever wrote what i've quoted here does not understand how life works..

the line pilots control the parking brake, the throttles, the altitude select knob, and the acars.

they also control whether they fly - or walk - after the cooling off period.

don't believe that "guys on here have no control".

Talking a good game - Show me the control you have and point out the impact/progress as you go along. "Working life" is what you make it and so far our "Working Life" has NOT been going so well! All the numbers don't support your talk - why is that?

THAT is a great summation! Brief, exactly on point, and it doesn't give any valuable intel to the company!

Screw you Smisek. I better get a damn good contract, because I'm looking forward to walking the picket line while you squirm like the rat you are. I just wish I could be there when you finally get what you deserve for completely f*cking away the opportunity to build a great airline. Worthless sh!tbag.

This is the only useful thing about this thread..sending a message to management. I'm sure it went viral at WHQ as soon as they saw the thread title. Y'all keep on passing your minimum contractual 'requirements'...it's really helpful. Seriously, talk about this stuff in private...don't you have any non-virtual friends?

There is no could be about it. We are being monitored on this site.

My own airline (which is not a UCH company) monitors a plethora of websites including this one and all social networking sites for information they deem usable and they have used family members posting in disciplinary proceedings against pilots. And we're not even in contract negotiations.

So watch how you say things.

I consider all non-management pilots my friends. However, I think it is best not to be kept in the dark and make informed decisions. Do you seriously think that nobody form the union is feeding CBA information to management. History has shown this not to be the case. Hey look, I could be wrong, but the next time you run it too Stivalia or Zullo ask them.
But let me ask you a question. If we know that the company monitors this forum, the how do we use that to our advantage?

throttleweenie 05-07-2012 09:33 PM

Gee wiz, Axl, why you holding back, bro? You could have said it 3 times instead of just two.

Seriously, everybody just say whatever you want; the bottom-feeders of the top floors know that everything they read here is bluster (true bluster, but bluster nonetheless) and the negotiating committee holds the complete list of concessions for management to give up. They're not idiots as some envision them. In fact, they hold one advantage: the gift (or curse, depending on whether you're management or not) of sociopathology.

When they commit immoral acts on another human being, they still sleep at night.

So top-floor sociopaths, enjoy the show. But in the end, I'll sleep well knowing I took something from you that you didn't want to give me.

Or I'll be taking a nice stroll along the loading/unloading area along with 11,000 of my co-workers.
