With all those brain surgeons running around, a doctor's note should be easy to come by.

Question....
Aren't some States NOT allowed to ask for the above request per State specific laws??

If my memory serves right, in the State of N.J. (IE-EWR Base), the employer is NOT allowed request such a thing as mentioned in the above post......Anyone confirm??

Correct.... not only that, if you are ON sick leave right now you have to call the Flight Office today and "discuss your status".

First of all, who on sick list checks their UAL email? Second, I'm pretty sure that I am protected by federal law from having to discuss my illness with my employer. Anyone have a statute handy?

Last, with the schedules they are forcing right now, why are they surprised that people are getting sick? 4 on, 1 off, 6 on, 2 off, 4 on, 1 off, 5 on will make you sick... and tired. The only thing I haven't figured out is whether there will be 1 or 2 fatigue calls for me during that stretch.

Far from an attorney, but 'think' the "HIPAA Provisions" would cover the employee for NOT being obligated to discuss their "illness" with their employer as mentioned above.

You guys get an UAL email address?!?!?!?!? When do we get ours so I can dump my hotmail and do everything on the UAL email address?

It would be a stretch to say that 30% know the password to sign into the company email.

True, their password character requirements ensure that most will forget it within minutes.

Pure, unadulterated intimidation. One would think if you are required to call the flight office regarding sick leave, union representation might be required.

I believe at sCAL you can rope-a-dope all you want and have no obligation to divulge anything. However contractually they can require you to see a company for continued employment.

What he said. In all seriousness, they have the right to require a note from the doctor. If there are certain pilots causing problems, deal with them. A blanket request......well?
