Default "L-CAL" CCS Sick-Call Message

Saw this little ditty this afternoon......

We are experiencing an unprecedented number of pilot sick calls far exceeding any level we have seen before. This is directly affecting the reliability of our operation and is impacting other pilots in our group who are called upon to cover these flights. We understand that there are times when illness prevents you from operating an aircraft, and we want you to utilize your sick bank as necessary to protect these instances. However if you are well enough to fly we need you in your role as a professional airline pilot.

Effective immediately, if you do call in sick we will be requiring that a written statement from an accredited and licensed healthcare professional whose expertise is appropriate to your condition be provided to your Chief Pilot confirming that you were, and, if appropriate, continue to be unable to perform your regular duties.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Is it even legal to implement a policy like that?

Make sure you find the most expensive place you can when you get your note.

What they are requesting is in violation of HIPAA. You are not required to provide anything more than "Mr./Ms. _____ was seen in office."

What he said..
Pretty simple. Just refuse.
This is a game that the company is playing and they are looking to take a few hostages.

Just have your **** tight and don't worry about it.

Motch

Oh, and keep taking screen shots of these "memo's/threats".. along with the log cans filled with MEL stickers and other goodies~ Gonna make for a nice lawsuit someday along with a great PR/new story.

Anyone wanna make a bet if we make the list of Great Companies To Work For anytime soon?!

If James 'roids' are acting up, he's not going to work and he sure as hell isn't going to the doctor. Or a runny nose, or lack of sleep last night due noisy crack heads next door. Who are they kidding?

I guess its only the 10000 pilots who figured that maybe a guy aged 64 might not be up to flying a full schedule without calling in sick now and then?

They didn't have the planes to fly the summer schedule. They didn't have the spares for the planes that they did have. They didn't, and still don't have the pilot manning right. They've been begging all summer for guys to defy gravity on their days off. They completely blew the whole SHARES debacle with stone age technology and minimal training and implementation. They oversell more flights than any other airline by far and lead the league in angry pax. They illegally dispatch planes and get incensed when a pilot refuses to fly it.

This place gets more patheticker every day. James needs a cocktail.
