But we don't (do we?) get to count our time in training towards "time of service". It's conceivable that not only do I and the other UAL furloughees going to Continental get bankruptcy first year pay, we get to deal with it during training, twice. It takes 14 months or so to get to 2nd year pay. If someone were to have nearly finished their first year at UAL, they presently have to "do it over" at Continental until there's a JCBA. That's up to 28 months at the bottom. And every contract I've ever seen has been top-loaded. One of the instructors last time had this to say about it: "Well, everybody starves the first year."

So if you we're there 11 months, then you go to 2nd year pay after you have been at CAL for one month.
