Default UAL Recalls

The SSC is pleased to be able to finally announce that the company has stated its long overdue intent to begin the recall of our furloughed brothers and sisters to the s-UA operation. Recalls are slated to begin in January 2013. Initial numbers will be between 50 to 125 pilots. Notification letters will be sent 60 to 90 days in advance, in the October to November time frame. As required by the contract and CBA, recalls will be offered in seniority order.

As we get closer to the actual recalls notices, we will clearly spell out everyone’s rights under the CBA and/or any other related Letters of Agreements. More specific details will follow so that all information is clearly understood.

Just make sure you get "consolidated" and off high mins before leaving with your type. Several guys been burned by this small aqp detail when doing the CAL runaround to SWA. No type for you my friend.

I'm not so sure about that. IMHO, those L-UAL furloughees who really desired the "free" type rating would have taken the CAL job offer because quitting CAL does not affect a L-UAL recall. A L-UAL furloughee can't take this recall and quit UAL without forfeiting a seniority number. Even if one has no intention to return to UAL why burn a seniority number if you don't have to?

Considering that the many of the more senior L-UAL pilots that took voluntary furlough are sitting on the bottom of the S-CAL list what this recall will cause is an exodus from CAL as those pilots can return to their rightful seats at UAL (widebody FO/narrowbody CA, ect). Assuming, of course, that the JCBA does not address the issue further.

Wait a second, I thought we all had "zero career expectations" because we were furloughed, at least this is what some of our CAL friends here have argued?

I'm so confused......
