It's conceivable that not only do I and the other UAL furloughees going to Continental get bankruptcy first year pay, we get to deal with it during training, twice. It takes 14 months or so to get to 2nd year pay. If someone were to have nearly finished their first year at UAL, they presently have to "do it over" at Continental until there's a JCBA. That's up to 28 months at the bottom. And every contract I've ever seen has been top-loaded. One of the instructors last time had this to say about it: "Well, everybody starves the first year."

I started yesterday. The first issue they addressed was the pay for guys who were still on first year pay. They are giving you credit for the number of months you were at United...starting from your hire date. So if you we're there 11 months, then you go to 2nd year pay after you have been at CAL for one month.

Does training count? Would that be one month from your class date, or a month after the check ride?

The time starts when you showed up day one in Denver.

pilotgolfer,

Thanks for the update! I heard about this last week but I contained my excitement with no official communication from the union.

If the people who sign the checks say they are giving us credit then I am one happy camper.

No, I mean training at CAL. If you spent 11 months at UAL, do you get 2nd year pay after a month in training at CAL, or a month after being released from CAL training?

First day at CAL is same for longevity/ seniority. SO a month after starting class. That was stated at FAM last week.

He is saying you hit 2nd year pay after one month in training at sCAL. That is my understanding as well.
