Here's the latest:

No real off the street hiring until 4Q, except for a very small sliver of applicants between now and SLI. SLI and the subsequent recall might push it back a little further.

Currently 8000+ applicants on file and receiving 20+ a day.

Good luck

KC

Thanks for the update KC.

Stupid question, but any idea on the amount in the "sliver"?

100-150? That would be my guess..

8000 on file...they'll burn through those numbers pretty fast.

My buddy got an email from Eagle because they had his application info on file. He applied in 2002.

Really? That's it? Last time we did any appreciable hiring the number was north of 14,000 if I recall. Much better odds today for potential applicants!

In the next 20 years UAL will need somewhere around 10000 pilots. (assuming one for one replacement of retiring pilots)

Unless they outsource more flying to RJ's

Then they need two pilots for each to retire, since two RJs are the size of one 737 (if that).

I was thinking the same thing.

I have an official list of the amount retiring for the next 30 years with all the %'s and goodies you can image...however I cannot show you this unless you want to die....its good to be a united intern.
