UAL Hiring Update

As promised, here's what they told us in IAH this morning during Day 1 indoc.

The number of UAL furloughees taking the CAL offer is waning. They still have a couple slots in Feb, 20 or so in March, and just opened up April classes. He (CV) and HR will be at the job fair in Miami this weekend (reiterated that face time is important). There ARE interviews (non-poolie) lined up for very select groups coming soon. Did not mention numbers. Any hiring will stop as SLI approaches (late Spring).

My impression is expect very little hiring this Spring, full recall process starts up immediately after SLI then full hiring thereafter. So far almost 400 have taken the CAL option so that only leaves around 1000. I'd wager that not many more will come back after SLI based upon historical trends and the fact that they still have 7+ years to bypass. Soooooo, maybe "normal" hiring later this year???? Just my guess.

Thats all I know, hope it helps.

Thanks for the info. Could you let us know what the class drop is: base, aircraft, and what went junior?
Thank you.

Thanks for the update. I myself am mainly interested in news about our guys getting recalled. I'd have to guess that many folks aren't coming back and that hiring will heat up in the fall. SWAG only but it seems to make the most sense.

Did I just say "sense" in regards to this management team?;)

As updated from a member of the negotiating team, 6 mo for sli is looking more like a minimum of 9 mo. 1-2 system bids on cal side between now and then, not sure of UAL side.

I'm sure the CAL side is going to do everything procedurally they can to delay the ISL since management is favoring their side with pilot movement.

Thank you.

12 737 total.

2 were mil-defers who elected for ORD
5 IAH/EWR left of which all the IAH slots filled first

That's BS. CAL has always had good movement with a small delay for age 65. The delays are caused by both sides and the mediator/arbitrator. Either way, it won't affect the ISL. Let's just blame JP now and get it over with.

I'll take "0" meaningful L-UAL bids between now and then for $100 Alex
