2012 profit sharing
#2
I'm not sure what the numbers are, but the 2nd quarter earnings release had a statement in there that said up to that point (end of June) $54 million had been accrued for profit sharing.
For all of 2011, UCH had:
$1.3 billion profit before special charges
$840 million profit with special charges
Earnings for the year of $3.49/share
$265 million for employee profit sharing
Based on earning release so far for 2012, UCH has had:
Q1: -$286 million profit before special charges/-$448 million after
Q2: +$545 million profit before charges/+$339 million after
(At this point the company said we had accumulated $54 million for PS)
Q3: +$520 million profit before charges/+$6 million after
Q4: ??
Mid-year was the last indication of PS accrual. It is based on profit before special charges. Looking back at 2011 and projecting forward I'm guessing at the end of Q3 we had around $130-140 million towards profit sharing, but the company didn't say in the earnings release. I'd say we are on track to have a lower profit this year based on the numbers. The company already stated that Sandy impacted October/November revenue. Don't know if we'll eek out a profit or not in Q4 but I'd be willing to bet we are looking at profit of 1/3 to 1/2 lower than last year's.
Just my guess though.
