It would be like after 9-11 when some of us just went home for 8 months with pay after UAL decided to park 2 fleets all of a sudden.

We already have a way and we have been doing it for the past year. Furlough at sUAL and then hire them at sCAL.

We will probably never get the 787 now. Wonder how this will affect SLI.

I get your point. But nobody has been furloughed since 2009.

Could UALs' 737 training be farmed out to a group like flight safety or simuflite or another vendor and be contract legal?

Being involved in the above, all accurate intel.

The last Pilots to get typed will be from the Dec 27th start-date class. All classes after that were either sent home, or had their classes cx'ed prior to start.

Nope.

sUAL can rent sims anywhere but the instructors and examiners must be seniority list pilots. One exemption: the initial cadre instructors and examiners (not line pilots) on a new equipment type can be trained by "outside" instructors to establish a new fleet.

How are the 787 pilots being paid due to the parking of "Sparky?"

SFO chief pilot yesterday said that the UAL 757's will now not be parked nearly as fast as planned. He said, single digits only for 2013. However, remember, he has never been wrong before. We moved Flt Ops into the 60's gates in June, 2012....

If you are out of the cockpit for less than a year, I believe only a PC is required to get requalified on a previous jet. If the 78 is down too long it wouldn't be hard to put some of the pilots back to work.

Hopefully Boeing will end up paying their salary to not work.

My understanding is that that is ONLY IF they decide to go above 255 large RJs and order small narrow body aircraft for mainline.
