Now, this is a simple question. You tend to go off on a rant about how insignificant CAL is. For you next post, please answer only: What are you going to do to Pierce when you see him?[/QUOTE] Give him the salute he deserves - "One Finger jay" if you will. |

Having access to both forums, I find it interesting that each pilot group generally expresses satisfaction with their respective MECs openers.
I suppose this is a good thing since when one group draws the short straw, they'll be satisfied that " they gave it their best shot". IMHO, both statements were written with the folks seated the cheap seats as a secondary consideration. In addition to the substantive arguments, both statements hit some of the common "talking points" heard by line pilots that will be soundly ignored by the arbitrators but at least "it was put out there." Box checked. The actual week long presentations will get into the real meat of the matter. |

What's also interesting is the primary focus in both cases are the UAL furloughees. If I were an arbitrator for a day, hands down UAL presents a more well-rounded case utilizing all considerations outlined in the TPA and ALPA merger policy. But that's just me. Interesting the length of LUAL pre-hearing statement as compared to LCAL. Ours was quite shorter. Each group cherry picked all the good quotes, kinda of like here! It's no surprise, as a CAL pilot, I felt UAL had many exaggerations. I was not aware Mexico and Canada are not international routes. I was also surprised to discover we have been affected by low cost carriers, while LUAL has been immune? If anything the opposite is true. After reading our statement and United's I feel even more confident going into the arbitration hearings. |

THAT'S what I thought...

Must have jay's security team on hand today. One's telling me to run along, another telling what to think and then the last one threatens to get me fired. Class act he and his brings to the table.
