A Training Center to Close

Flight Training
Common culture, service to our pilots and efficiency demands we begin the methodical process of selecting a single training center. We will be working from a blank sheet of paper with no predetermined outcome and will keep you updated.

Perhaps two training centers to close?????
FWIW, prior to the merger Howie's predecessor (Kolshak) was working on moving UA training to ORD and had already moved many of the support and development staff. The intent, apparently, was to duplicate DAL's HQ/TK setup that Kolshak was familiar with. Now that UAL's HQ is downtown I'm not sure that vision is attainable but I know where UAL owns a big building and real estate near ORD.

Why not go about this the smart way, and make Chicago, Houston and Denver bid on a new facility, via tax incentives, and lease rates. Hell, why exclude SFO, LAX or IAD, let them all fight it out, and see who comes up with the best deal.

A lucid, logical and intelligent point, do you see the flaw in your reasoning?

I like Howard a whole lot more than Fred and the statement about a blank sheet is typical Howard.
Cadet said they were looking at moving to ORD in a previous admin but it will really come down to cost. Moving a sim is not a trivial thing, but I will wager the cirrent CAL location will not be the there ten years from now. But, saying that IAH is not out of the question as the training base.
One might notice the number of flights comparing ORD to IAH and it appears to be clear ORD is dwindling. And what does DEN have to offer? Paid for space.
This will be fun watching the arguments on this one.
