Yeah those 74s rate right up there with all of Emirates equipment.....What's the age difference between the two fleets Lee?

Ever notice how CAL pilots know exactly how old our 747s are but can't remember the date they were hired?

Hired July 17th, 2005. 737 Captain. New hire classmate is 756 Captain. I have no idea how old our 747s are, just that they look like crap. Same for the UAL 756s that I deadhead on.

That said, I'm looking forward to our combined underground newsletter.

Enjoy it while you can - after SLI, you'll be stuck on reserve for some time. Good thing is the UAL reserve system will make it less painful. I would imagine the cal reserve system sucks for you.

Awesome!

FWIW, what were you holding on 05/17/10 or 10/01/10??? ;)

(And insert joke [here] about CAL pilots knowing when they were hired.)

With status and category it doesn't matter what bid you hold. They might hold a 767 capt bid but slotting their seniority could place them as a 767 fo. Conversely, many of our widebody fo's would hold capt slots if stove piped.

That's strange...the current seniority list on CAL doesn't show any new hire classes on 7/17/2005. Are you sure you didn't mean 7/12/2005 or 7/19/2005?

What's a few days or years among friends? And where did the expression "G-Tards" originate?

Phrogs4ever 06-05-2013 06:40 PM

Well how about that! I guess I don't know the date I was hired or how old the 747s are. You know what? I don't know when I was hired at Flight Options either. Or the day I got my CFI, or my first solo, or my ATP for that matter. I guess important dates like birthdays and anniversaries are the only ones worth remembering to me.

It's a good thing I'm not trying to get over on another pilot and make up for lost career expectations by throwing around my date of hire. The only thing that matters to me is what percent seniority I am within my bes for monthly bidding and vacation, and what percent system seniority I am for bes seat bids. The seat I was holding on 10/01/10 is irrelevant, only my seniority on the active list. But hey, you guys know your date of hire, so there's that...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will accept whatever decision three professional arbitrators come up with so we can move forward. Will you?

Last week I had TWO sCAL guys on my jumpseats. Boy were they happy to be going home...Last flight out of town on my CRAPPY 756 with two jumpseats. I don't think those two guys really cared how CRAPPY the jet was.;) Welcome on my CRAPPY jet any time...The more the merrier;)
Unless your name and pretty picture appears in my yearbook, then we have a problem!

Heck, a ride home is a ride home. I'd be happy to double up on a jump seat as well. I think we too often get too personal with our respective legacies, and forget that so much about our airline has nothing to do with the pilots themselves. Old plane or new plane, the pilot is what makes the flight safe. But I was a bit surprised at how worn the 75s, oops, 57s were when I started deadheading on them. I'm also glad that we recently retired our last 737-500, those things had to be replaced. All NG/MAX from here on out.

If your yearbook is the one I'm thinking of, you will never find my picture. On that, we can agree 100%.

Old planes or not, Delta is kicking our butts with DC9 and MD88s still in their fleet. Now throw in their 747-400s A320s and B757s that they got from NWA, and we are in for a world of hurt from a competitor using old jets...My point is that this crap means nada specially in an SLI argument.
