My BI class started Oct 7th. The most senior pilots started training on Monday morning (BI ended on Friday). And the most junior start a week later. We all got the A320. Not sure what it looks like now.

Is that to reserve or a line? Also, what's your opinion of IAH commute?

Line holder since 6 months off IOE last Fall. Reserve was pretty easy too. As for IAH, I had a bid award to there out of training and cancelled it. Too many horror stories from buddies.

What were the stories? I just dropped a bid out there on the 320. Brand new guy, currently still scheduled to go to EWR. Living in NOLA currently. Thanks for any insights.

What's the problem with commuting to IAH? I live on the west coast, so it seems like it would be better to commute to IAH for a while then EWR...but that thought is coming from someone who has never done anything like that before.

Any thoughts on that are much appreciated.

DEN-IAH commute is no bueno. Many reasons, tons of senior commuters, training center to training center. If I lived in NOLA, I would go to IAH to have a driving option. Airbus in IAH should be good for newhires as they are expanding that flying.

Default Ewr/iah

Since moving to IAH is a real possibility for a new hire, I'm curious of everyone's opinion about commuting to EWR vs IAH from South Florida? I'm in Port St Lucie....so 1 hr drive to PBI and 2 hours to MCO.

Thanks

I commuted out of MCO for 15+ years........never again! Move to IAH... I moved to a place on Galveston bay, very much like Cocoa Beach were I was last. Commuting sucks and MCO is a tough one, I guess "if" I had too I would commute to EWR since there is a lot more FLA flights than IAH.

I am a Florida boy for sure, but my life improved 100% with living in base, I wish I listened sooner you will get burned out fast. Good luck! I do keep hearing about an MCO base....a rumor that has been around at both UAL and CAL for 15+ years!
