The latest vacancy bid closed Friday with final awards already posted. I imagine they are going to be doing some rapid fire calls this week.

There was mention of classes not being assigned by SS#, but by interview date in your class thread sux4u (geez, what a name-ouch) Do you think that's the case? Of course, we can't control any of this so it really doesn't matter...just wanna know. Your on the line, I'm not - s4me.

As far as the SS# vs interview date, I do believe it is still based on SS# but it falls from the week in which you interviewed. I might be way off here, but this is what I gathered as I had a friend in my class but interviewed the week after me. You are thrown in by SS# within the rolling week of when the hiring board meets and gives you the ok. So that is generally every weds.
I interviewed on Friday and I believe my friend interviewed on Monday the following week. His SS# was lower than mine but we still ended up in the same class even though he interviewed the into the next week. Again this was just all of us speculating how it must be broken down. I could be totally wrong, but it seems to make sense!
Hope this helps and congrats on joining!

How the pool is determined.
Everyone interviews in a week. The following Wednesday they sit down and decide who gets a job offer. Say 25 interviewed and they hired 20. Those 20 people get sorted by last 4 digits of SS#. Lowest to Highest. Then they get put into the current pool of other new hires at the deep end of the pool and you wade to the shallow end.
Seniority.
You will get a call 4 weeks out from your class date (just under 30 days). On the day of class you will meet the other 20-25 new hires with you. Your seniority once you get to class is determined by age oldest to youngest.....then you get added to the bottom of the master seniority list.
Try not to get confused. SS# to determine when you get a class date.....age to determine bidding for equipment and everything else.
Welcome to those awaiting class.

Hahaha on the handle Sux - coulda been worse. Thx to you and Spunk for the reply.
For what it's worth, I asked Ms. Doris about the SS# class assignment hierarchy(when callling for drug test info) and she said that's not how it works....I didn't ask how.
Really matters not other than managing for a hiccup. It's coming soon.

DCA 320 FO 64 UNFILLED
DCA 756 FO 7 UNFILLED
EWR 737 FO 63 UNFILLED
EWR 756 FO 53 UNFILLED
IAH 320 FO 5 UNFILLED
SFO 737 FO 16 UNFILLED
Those will be the bases. Don't get too concerned about not getting the base you want. You may be able to get it within a few vacancy bids.
Don't expect to get the following any time soon: DEN, CLE, GUM.
The following may take a few vacancy bids before you get there: LAX
Should be fairly easy to get to: SFO, ORD
Easiest bases in the system right now: EWR, DCA
IAH is a question mark due to surplus 737 crews. There will probably be overstaffing in several different IAH seats after displacements this fall.
As always, the above information can change at a moment's notice.
Good luck to all.
