I disagree wholeheartedly! Bo's best act is to tightrope walk and never, ever be in a position to chose ALPA or management....I KNOW he would chose management over the line pilots and ALPA each and every time.....and this is based upon my direct and personal experience with him in situations where he DID have to choose. He conceals this choice VERY well so nobody knows. I recall a comment on one info picket we held at ORD and to which Bo made an appearance to talk to the troops. The comment was to the point of wondering if we actually went on strike, would Bo carry a sign or not. I had to laugh out loud because I already know the answer and so many are blind in believing he cares for anyone but himself....1st and foremost. Newspapers and pizzas are cheaper than walking the line....I always thought.

I never heard a bad word about Bo from line pilots until this thread, only good things. When most pilots say good things, that is generally very good. I don't know the man personally, and have never worked with, or under him.
I also don't know the current chief pilot from the black team, or heard anything about him one way or the other.
Until Attarian, lUAL chief pilots were United pilots. For the most part they stood up for their minions. That probably precipitated hiring an outsider.
Attarian is an ALPA hack-insider. This should show everyone who ALPA leadership is really working for. Themselves.
My two cents.

The only thing I know about Bo is when I went to ORD for some security training as a new hire about to be furloughed ('08).
He told the class that those about to be furloughed should be looking for a job, and don't plan on coming back....
Nice pep talk...
I might have misunderstood his intention, but personally turned me off...

I do, or rather, did know Bo from Shuttle days and the Guppy fleet. Back then he was a stand up guy. However, since moving to ORD, especially during contract talks, he put out a lot of management drivel. It was very carefully worded, but still very management oriented/slanted. He's now been in management a very long time.
I haven't seen him in quite a while, but I think he has been drinking liberal quantities of Kool-Aid. So, should be treated with caution. Would he be better than Attarian? I don't know.

I guess I don't get you guys and gals at all. Bo is part of UAL Management and has a job to do in that position. If the policies turn more exCAL, towards fire first and defend later, then he will follow. None of these management people will fall on the sword for anyone, it's not their job.
As far as Bo telling people to get jobs as they are furloughed, would you rather have had him lie and say something to make you feel warm and fuzzy?

Attarian?
It is not that his updates have zero substance, HE has no substance. He is a long time ALPA hack-insider. He has very very little airline pilot time, and the time he has was a long time ago. He spent most of his time in Herndon telling the rest of ALPA leadership how great they were. Somehow, he shows up as our CP back in the late "nought" years.
Unbelievable.
