I'm going to explore the following, since clearly the company has no interest in fixing the problem. Next time I see an SA0X on the list, I'm using a vacation pass to ensure that I'm ahead of them. Then I'm going to file a grievance to get my vacation pass back. It's the only way that I can assure I'm getting my rightful place ahead of United Express employees.

To the express folks... How well is this glitch known? Has the word been spread at your carriers?
Seriously? How often does something get changed from an RJ to a mainline flight? And yes, at least the pass travel office at my regional has instructed us to make sure we're listed correctly.

Didn't know anything about it.

Yeah, I had no idea. Until now. Thanks for sharing gettinbumped.. lol..
I have never witnessed a sa5x get put in front of anyone of higher priority, but it is also very rare for a express flight to be flown by mainline metal. As far as I've known there is a boarding hiarchy in place that has been working as designed. Even though I fly under your umbrella/colors I know I will be dead last on the list. It is what it is . I hold a teeny tiny bit better boarding priority on UA as I would on swa or aa or dl. My 30+ vacation passes that I had rightfully earned were taken from me and everyone else a couple of years ago as well ,with a weeks notice to use them. At least you can use one of those to help you get better boarding priority when your fellow sa1 or SA 2 pull one out.
Now I gotta go spread the news!

I think everybody, including the UAL people, started out fresh. Some how the CAL people kept their allotment. Don't know how or why.

I seen this f/a with a 1969 board date, on a flt with 40 open seats. List with a Vpass and the jumpseat. 1969. she's #1 on the nr list.. why waste the v-pass? she does this often. Is she shooting for 1st?
you guys have employees that have been here a looong time...

Yes we do - F/A probably got tired of being left at the gate while somebody with tons of vacation passes and very junior getting on.

The "vacation pass" concept is a joke. It's turned pass-riding into gamesmanship.

Totally. Like the people who list for both then before the flight cancel one out depending on how things look.

I've actually had a bunch people tell me they intentionally list as a vacation pass to stop other people from trying to list then before the flight when they know they are going to get on they switch to regular pass.

Where did this come from anyway?

It also allows everyone including relative new hires to ride in Business or Global First for $0. I'm sure that's not a big deal to JUMBO pilot like you, but when I was making 25K at Express that sure helped. Over the years, my wife and I have traveled a lot of the world in comfort thanks to the vacation pass program. Sorry it doesn't work for you in your life Staller.

Or cancel both out once they're on the plane. I think they put measures in to prevent this.
