At 19, lied to United and said he was 21. Claimed to have 1500 hours.
Magically "discovers" he's two years "younger" (re: family Bible inscription) when he's about to hit 60. Errrr, 58. Claims to have "....more than 50,000 hours and more turbine time than any other pilot. Made friends with Bill Lear, and pushed the Lear to Hollywood. Gets him in the circles of Sinatra, Deano, etc. Apparently was flying the Lear camera plane for the unauthorized GE promotional film shoot that resulted in the midair of the XB-70 and F-104. Wikipedia page proudly proclaims how he was one of "the first" to cross the picket line. Revered by Hollywood celebrities and industry big wigs. Despised by anyone who knows better. Clay Lacy |

And if IMC or night and the 30 minute battery is gone, gather up some iPhones on the plane and use the compass app's level to provide an artificial horizon to maintain wings level. Sits nicely on the frame around one of the instrument displays. Use one until the battery is low then the next one until you can see city lights.

Last week I didn't make a flight because the only non revs making the flight were SA-1Ps, with a hire date of 1972???????????????????
Not sure but is that category in the same group as the group listed in the FT Q&A below? Will management co-workers have a higher boarding priority than other co-workers? No. All co-workers will have the same boarding priority for space-available pass travel. We will eliminate Continental’s current SA2P and above boarding priorities in the new pass travel program when it becomes effective in 2012. Under the new program, the highest space-available boarding priority will be enjoyed by all co-workers and retirees using vacation passes. |

Now I understand the 1919 boarding (longevity) date that I have see on a few standby lists. Must have a few of these guys. Has ALPA weighed in yet on these 1919 boarding dates? Seems like we win lots of grievances, hope this one is on the list.
If I'm not mistaken, LCAL use to board all supervisors, vendors and families before the rank and file employee regardless of seniority. On the LUAL side the pass travel program was regulated by all the employee groups which made it hard for any one person or group to have an advantage in boarding. Positive Space was about the same only you saw more booking in FC seats than today. Guess you could say it's a privilege of all employees and not a right. The company could unilaterally stop the program all together, for a group of employees or an individual. The unions could argue the point but there is really no legal ground to stand on. |

UA jets have "fast/slow" indicator on left side of EADI, CAL has Vertical Tape airspeed with flap reference marks.
UA jets have carpet on floor in cockpit. Cal are metal. Cal RR engines have significantly more thrust than UA Pratts. RR engines start faster then the Pratts......so there is that! :D |
