James, James, James....although I do pay my mortgage flying this so called guppy..I find it sooooo hypercritical when the lual types slam the shizzle out of this airplane ....then fall all over themselves bidding for it...you per se may not jump over, but look at the vacancy awards...it's almost funny. Btw, there has never been a dme hold since I've been on her ( 2007). And before you slam me with your 20 syllable words, I know she is NO 757...never will be. But she gets me 14k a month in the rt. seat and off to ogg/hnl for some frosty's with good scenery...

Which hasn't happened at all.......

Most LUAL bids since SLI have been for aircraft types UAL has prior to the merger (747, 777, 767, 757, and Airbus)

Hardly anyone has bid the guppy except a couple pilots who went from junior Airbus FOs to senior guppy FOs, since the guppy is a more junior airplane.

So a couple pilots bidding it does not equate to "falling all over themselves".

Of course the number of L-CAL pilots now in L-UAL bases is quite staggering.....

Hundreds of U-hires who by choosing to stay on the 737 despite vacancies on LUAL aircraft since ISL have essentially bid for it.

And cue the infighting once again. This'll never get old. Thank goodness I only have 27 years until I retire!

Well of course they're going to bid it. Our's were parked and Captains got bumped back to the right seat. Yours showed up and started flying trips in our domiciles with very very junior guys in the left seat. Meanwhile, we couldn't bid them and on and on and on thank you Jay Delay Pierce.

Now, we can and will bid them.

Just because I think the company made a gargantuan mistake by not buying more A320's doesn't mean that I don't think a guy who wants to upgrade should skip the Crap7. He just won't sleep as well.

Besides, I'm just poking fun with my razzing. I have several thou in the Guppy so I know a little about it, I just prefer every other airplane on the property. But if I had the HP to hold the left seat I'd certainly consider it. And I'd still whine every time I entered and left that scrawny old cockpit. You remember the old joke....The engines may have been shut down put the pilot is still whining.

As I was told on new hire IOE by Crusty, "As soon as you stop complaining they start taking stuff away".

You Guppy lovers are welcome to make fun of the Flying French Chain Saw or whatever other moniker you'd like to formulate.

PS At my pay rate, I'd have to earn 110 hours per month to pull down that kind of ching. Meanwhile, for the last several years I can't get more then 70 unless the planets all line up perfectly. The company is getting their financial a$$ kicked by DAL and yet continues to pay OT to the favored group while the other group steams. Just look at what he's doing right now with the Blue Team flight attendants! This Jeff fellow sure knows how to run an airline. Right into the sod. But that's another thread.

Have a nice Thanksgiving. Seriously. Frats and Kum by yah or however its spelled. Or spellt if you're Canadian. Or semi-illiterate.

Well, he11z yea! The rate is soon to be $204/hr, and the position comes with a built in reserve cushion. You better belive blue guys will be bidding that little guppy. I'd fly a C172 for $204!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good. See, the merger worked out for you as well. United is/was the #1 airline from the mainland to HI. Enjoy the islands.

I guess we so insecure that we cant bash the airplane we fly? Most people are not of single issue mentality. Just because the plane is the least favorite it makes there QOL better they should avoid it? Give me a break. Your right we should just shut up about the quarter million dollar machine that cant keep the toilet seat up, its the best. Sounds more like more of the "just shut up and follow along" CAL culture. Or is it more like "I dont like how loud it is so avoid it" like voting no to a CBA because the retro was not exactly what I thought it should be?

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well sir! I think you and I know this is a public forum, and some things are said in the heat of the commando/ keyboard battle...I was glad to read your response this A.M., and I for one respect what you have written over the months..you seem to get it. It being that it is not so much us(black) vs them(blue), but more along the lines of us (12k+) vs. them(mgt.,or in our case, lack there of)...one cannot but be respectful in this profession, when one pilot stands up for his other less fortunate pilots...kinda rare these days.
As for the guppy...it is a guppy. I have and always will call it that, and yes, she is all I know....I was not trying to pick a battle with sir James...I'd spend countless hours with a thesaurus and dictionary trying to have a rebuttle. I hope you have a great turkey day and most importantly, that your off..
