Yeah, yeah, yeah, I the L-UAL pilot stole your job after participating in a scheme to pay off the arbitrators. The usual line from the radical, former RJ pilot hired at CAL between 05-08. Of course, you providing your services to the explosive RJ growth wave in order to get a jet job quickly in your career didn't have an impact on anyone else in this business. I'm sure it was a nice modest pay raise though from your stint as a CFI.

Oh, they are coming. And as I said in my post, there will be no need to displace the 05/06 Captains, as there are plenty of 737s yet to be delivered. THe 05/06 guys will just be a nice reserve cushion for all the 75/76 FOs that will come cascading down on top of them when they get their displacements. Seniority rules!
"Displacements thru staffing" ???? you need to read the new contract, skippy. Displacements are displacements. When the 76T pilots get their diplacements (bumps), they can go wherever they can hold. It's the United way, baby. Get ready. "05/06 Captains will be Captains for their entire career"....I am sure that's what many of them thought in 2008....right before getting displaced back into the right seat. Absolute statements in this business are foolish. Sled |
Cousineddie-
So let me get this straight. Regional pilots are now to blame for UAL's downfall. And how would instruct a young pilot to gain the requirements necessary to qualify for a major. If you don't like RJ why don't y'all quit caving on scope. Don't understand your problem with CFI's, it is how most of your coworkers started. |
PV and BW;
You are both so wrong and inexperienced in the airline industry, you don't even understand the tsunami coming your way. We are going to experience an "almost huge furlough", but from the middle of the seniority list. A few really senior 76T guys will bid wide body, a few will retire from that seat, the rest are waiting to bump. They are waiting because they are getting paid line guarantee to fly much less, or zero. There will be very few narrow body Capt bids for a couple of years, at least. UAL can choose to sit on too many captains, but to fly Capt with Capt, it requires both pilots concur. UAL rarely sits on too many pilots. They bump. I hope the DEN 737 CAP, hired in 06, can afford the house they bought on FO pay. That is if they can even hold the FO seat in 1 year. |

As far as economic disturbance effecting companies differently, that question is answered by looking at how the companies are run. Managements relationship with labor, labor relationship with customers, etc. I don't think I get your point on this. On you saying a culture is better because it fights with its management better. How has that worked out for you the last decade?
The best you have for a company is management/labor/customer relations? Everyone can be signing hand in hand but if the company isn't well run, it's going under. Driving away premium business travelers does not make for a profitable company. Some groups fight for what is right and some get bent over refusing to file grievances. You must be pretty limber. |

Verifying domestic IDs or they are dropped. Physically turn in medical by 25th or you go NQ.

Sorry Jtool, no junior 73 Captains will get bumped. Yes, stagnation for a few years but their in and will always be. And many, 98,99,00 hires, have been Captains for 5+ years already. Most are high line holders and will continue to be. It probably sucks sitting in a right seat for half your career. I get your frustration, but no sli can turn back time. You got thrown a bone, just say thank you and try to enjoy your remaining years.

wow. Can you read? I have said over and over that I don't believe any existing captains will be bumped. On this we AGREE. What I am saying is that 76T pilots WILL be bumped (displaced) and many will go to 737 CAP and squat down on top of all those 05-06' Captains (reserve cushions). Are we clear? Because when it happens (the 76T bumps), and I come back on here to gloat about being right (Just like I was on SLI) I don't want you weaseling out about how you didn't understand what I said. Get ready. ;) You will learn more as your career progresses. Sled |

Wrong...Never had to verify domestic id. International yes, but it was not dropped with a vengeance. We entered our medicals into unimatic but we could carry into following month.
