Exactly. Of course if you "accidentally" forgot to verify the trip the same thing would happen.

I'm just yanking your chain, this stupid hat thing is ridiculous. I doubt it will be any different than the last ten years. Fred Abbot was the hat guy...he's gone and his people express mind set as well. Thank god. They should just make the damn hat optional and be done with it. We have more pressing issues around here than the hat.

Yes, of course this Abbot guy wanted airline pilots to look like airline pilots!!!! How could he????

You sloppy hat less dudes keep your cool leather pilot look going as you walk through the terminal looking like Tom Cruise wannabe's....

Will you be going shirtless while wearing your awesome leather jacket too?

You guys must ride Harley's too...you're awesome!

Difference between me and Tom Cruise?

He pretended to land on aircraft carriers....

Tom Cruise is actually a wannabee to many of the posters on this forum.

Go Navy.

oldmako 12-15-2013 09:49 AM

I dunno, I'd rather have a competent set of slobs up front who look like me than those snappily dressed dudes from Asiana while my caboose is parked in coach. Especially if they were flying the incredibly challenging daylight visual approach into SFO, or any other approach to any other airport on the planet for that matter.

Some guys just love to look at themselves and other drivers I guess. Pretty sure James is checking out the slender ladies and not the other pilots in the drome when he's on strollby.

Ho Lee.

As opposed to the chodes that walk around operations with their jacket and hat on....

The hat nazis are still in play. Delusional, but in play.

I'm sure looking like a stepford wife does not necessarily correlate to a good pilot. It does however correlate to something.

..........Fook?

And you can clean lavs and load bags in your hat if you want....like Fred and the PE crowd. I guess we don't look like airline pilots in the summer when we wear no jacket and hat.

Right. We should wear the jacket YEAR ROUND. Its "not professional" to not wear the jacket.

Even in the summer. Even sitting in the cockpit.

Plus we should wear the hat when we have sex on layovers so the flight attendants know who is the boss.

Gupboy 12-15-2013 12:32 PM

CAL had mandatory hats for years and how many wear them? Maybe 20 percent on a good day.

Most by far of the CAL pilots wear hats. It isn't even close.

Because that's the company's policy Iceman...

You don't wear the Hat and Jacket in the summer and you wear it in the winter....do you understand what policy is?

Now stop humiliating our profession and put the hat and coat on, shine your nasty shoes, iron your shirt and try to act like an adult, just while you represent our profession...

then when you get home put on your cool leather jacket and go to the local Starbucks to show off your new Harley and beer gut....

Yo Ramrod,

I'll bet you look really sharp as you do the steely eyed peacock strut through the terminal.

As you shoot dirty glances at the other pilots who don't measure up, does your jaw ache? Are you on the Hat, Haircut and Shoeshine committee?

:D That SLI really bugs you doesn't it? You must be a real hoot on a four day.

You lost me when you said humiliating and represent our profession. Our profession is a joke. We have been humiliated to the point that this is no longer a profession. The only thing I represent is the pilot sitting beside me.

Good one...original! Granted I take a small liberty from policy with the hat issue, obviously mgt does as well given the number of non hat wearers. CP's walk by daily nod and smile at the hats and the hatless.
You really need to learn to pick your battles friend.

Coto Pilot 12-15-2013 03:46 PM

I get a kick out the guys that are all wrapped up in the hats, yet wear pants that don't match the jacket, don't button the jacket etc.

oldmako 12-15-2013 04:02 PM

The contract that doesn't match the responsibility, sacrifice, dedication or experience....

Go Navy.

A navy guy felt compelled to justify himself to Tom Cruise... damn.

On another note... the guy I am flying with is already conniving ways to get comfortable with personal clothing pieces with the new uniform...

You can take the pilots from CAL, but you can't take the Continental out of the pilots...

Easy there tough-guy...deep breath, even tempo, step down from the watch-tower.

Personal policy (read: common sense) - Cold = wear jacket, Hot = don't wear it. Feel free to contact me for further clarifications....

Thinking we've got bigger fish to fry whilst "professional aviating" and stuff.

Oofda, that was tough

I thought I read somewhere that there was an option for a solid color tie, no stripes, but I haven't been able to track down the reference. Anybody hear of that? Not available on the M&H website though.

I don't remember seeing that. I don't think the new tie is an issue. Just the quality of the other garments.

Toddnel 12-17-2013 11:02 AM

I don't think it's an option, only the ugly one.

Too bad. I found a nice navy blue zip tie.

The company tie is hideous. I already broke my zip tie one, cheap piece of #$%^

Here is a descent one. The right color, but not a zip tie.

Found a zip tie one in the right color

How is that the right color? Unless that is your version of a Xmas tie...

I don't know what your looking at Snarge, but when I received my uniform it said "midnight blue" under "color".

No need to be snarky Snarge, geeze. If you don't like it don't get it.

That was referred to as a "cover".

As part of the enlisted swine from the old corps, it was clearly pointed out by my drill-instructor that it was designed as a cover to prevent the sun from burning a hole in my brain housing group. Who knew?

Airhoss 12-19-2013 07:34 PM

Bad news, my hat was just killed in a horrible puppy VS hat incident. It doesn't look like there is any possibility of an open casket at the funeral either.

I'm so distraught, I'll have to fly me next trip without the hat!

Yeap, it was great running around Georgetown during liberty from Quantico with the white domes from wearing the covers and sunburned faces.

At least pitchers of beer were 20 bucks! and that was in 1985!

Look if you don't like the hat, don't wear it... but don't go find another hat that you like....

Same with the tie... Not sure why pilots can't be passive aggressive....

Last guy I flew with showed up with the full uniform, including the hat, even though he never wore the hat, since the uniform was new... he carried the thing for four days and asked where my hat was? I said the Hat brass is wrong, the company knows it, so I'll (maybe) wear the hat when they fix it....

This isn't hard guys....

Oh, so you chastise me for being out of uniform because I don't like the tie, but you are out of uniform because you don't like the way the hat brass looks on your hat?

Typical hypocrite. I don't like the tie because I think it looks goofy and from the 1980's. You don't like the hat because the hat brass sticks up. Same diff. Where both out of uniform.

You must be CAL.....

not sure if you got the UNITED uniform update where the Uniform committee chair, called it a CLOWN tie four times. And the company agree to replace it.

Also, the company also agreed the hat brass is wrong and the pin backings can't be secured......

But do what you want, dress how you like... it's the CAL independent contractor way... just show up sick, get that SUV and make Jeffy rich.....

badflaps 12-21-2013 06:48 AM

Can anybody post a picture of the entire uniform, so that you can be readily identified in the terminal?
