Well if it really is a seniority run-down until 1100 the day prior, how come someone got a trip (both of us reserves) who was junior to me for a 4-day trip that departs 48 hours out. We both were using Reserve Aggressive pick-up and exactly 48 hrs out the trade window opened for reserves and the junior guy got it. Any ideas? Should I grieve it?

I would email the union about it. I thought APU was only day prior for reserves. Plus I think the seniority trading is for trips starting in the January bid month.

The new system doesn't go into effect until 12/30. Until then it is our previous system which is 48 hours from departure for Int'l trips.

So it's still a time-stamp kind of thing with regard to trading until the 30th?

So when can we advertise trips for Jan or do a straight pickup of an open time or advertised pairing?? Or did we lose that??

Anyone? Anyone?

trading doesn't start until 1105 on the 31st. If you have a trip on the 30th there is no option to trade. oh look at that, the only trip I want to try and trade I can't, great.

This. There were times when I got a pairing alert just before hitting "submit" in trip shopping to see the available trips and it never even came up in trip shopping because someone got it already. I know scheduling had to move something through open time occasionally to get it to where they wanted it, but it almost seemed like someone had written a program to trade their trips for them. I'm not even that senior, but I think I prefer this system (at least in theory) to what we had.

This goes back many years... And supposedly was the subject of extensive research by the EWR CPO...it turns out that different smartphones and operating systems work at different speeds. I.e. A guy using a Blackberry always got the trip if he hit "enter" at the same time as a guy on an IPhone if they got s trip alert at the same time. Or if someone was on the old CMS computer system he would have the same advantage if he was competing for a trip alert trade with someone going through CCS.
Or if a pilot were to drop his entire schedule he would they be able to pick up on short notice without any legality conflicts...
Bottom line for me as a commuter, I have better things to do than spend my personal time on direct dial to the company.
This "mafia" is still active, the new trip trade system will not change anything.

Does the new trip trading system recognize "bad day/worse day" trip trade scenarios? I'm trying to slide my 4-day trip by two days and trade into a trip that would have me working over a weekend. Since I can't see the coverage, I'm only guessing it's worse over the weekend.
If I can't trade it via the automated system, can scheduling still assist with these "bad day/worse day" trades?
Thanks for any info!
