New trip trading

For those that have used both systems, is the new one going to add anything or just be more complicated, 47 page guide? I am under the impression that ual has had this system in the past.

This is new to us as well. Our old system ran 1 seniority based trade cycle, (the big pick) then it was first come first served via a time stamp for the remainder of the month. My understanding is this new system is seniority based 100% of the time.

Except for after 1100 the day prior. Then it's first come first served.

True. Thanks.

Can we still do bad day/worse day trades?

i.e. I have a 3 day on 01/09 & I want to trade for another 3 day on 01/03?

What is yous guys impression of at least the big pick portion of it. I'm junior but I understand and can accept the big pick idea, but after that it seems sorta a pain. I feel like I am over thinking it but I think it's annoying to have in multiple different request only to find out at the last possible moment if one or any of them went through. I know last possible moment is an overstatement but yous guys know what I'm getting at.

It's not bad. It runs every 4 hours. Just put some trades into the new system....seems almost identical to the x-ual system.

Yep. And, you don't have to enter that stupid 3 letter code anymore.

Way back when we had an instantaneous system at UAL. You looked up Open Flying and if you worked more hours and started earlier the trade went though immediately. If it was less hours or later it went through as long as there were a set number of reserves unassigned on that day. Once the number of reserves reached a limit (something like 6 or 7 guys) the trades were limited to earlier and more time on the same day. That was "the Bomb" and everyone benefited. THAT is what we need our boys to get back in the next contract, anyone agree?

I have always been a fan of instant gratification - even when I was really senior. Then came the "time stamp" which slowed things down and made trading dicier and now this "seniority rules". So for the rest of us at the bottom of the reserve list it means we are dead last for getting something we want. I'd like to see us move more to instant gratification.
