Airbus orders canceled

United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL), the world’s second-biggest airline, canceled orders for 12 Airbus SAS single-aisle planes valued at about $1.08 billion that the carrier said were no longer needed.

Not certain, but I think these were options to buy on 320s and 319s that they had been sitting on for more than a decade.
In other words, I don't think it was an order cancellation...just an option cancellation.

Orders and options for orders were not considered for the SLI. Only airplanes that were actually on the property on the day of the merger which was October 1, 2010, so these didn't have an effect on status and category slots.

Except for the 787 fence of course. Our proposed 747 fence was the one weak part of our proposal.

Agree. Why fence airplanes that weren't even on the property prior to the merger? At least there is a light to the end of the tunnel with a single seniority list, and when the 787 fence falls there will be some nice opportunities to have decent bidding power in those bases.
