PC & Doors training
#1
I thought this needed to be a new thread instead of piling on the doors training debacle.
I am currently grounded for PC non-currency. Getting at least this week off with pay, maybe more.
Anyway, the PC scheduling desk is using 3 x 5" cards on a large table to schedule Line checks, not real high tech but still works. I'm guessing PC scheduling isn't much better.
The way it used to work, the doors and emergency training was tied to the PC. TK figured out that my doors training was going to expire--and I attended that 3 weeks ago, but they completely lost my PC base month. PBS would not let me bid for PC's. Even now, no one can tell me when my PC base month is. Hence, my PC expired at the end of last month, and nothing legal scheduled. They tried to give me a PC with 7 days notification, the contract now specifies 15.
I'll know Monday more about what my options are after talking with my CP in SFO.
So, if you had to go to doors training, might want to check what your PC situation is as well, or you might end up sitting at home and getting paid while waiting for a class.
The incompetence continues.

I wish this would happen to me. Door training expired this month and I was hoping they'd forget and I'd start the summer with some paid time off in June. CP arranged a special session just for two of us to make sure this didn't happen. Have my AQP next month, my late month, again hoping the sims go down or something and I can get some paid time off in July.

Well, it took a call to the SFO CP to fix the contract violation. The FODM tried to fix the situation, but the PC desk refused the FODM saying I had to call the CP. The guy I talked to said his PC scheduling managers wouldn't change it, well if the FODM can't effect the change he is supposed to be empowered to do so, what kind of managers/supervisors do we have?
“9-B-3-d A Pilot shall be notified at least fifteen (15) days prior to the date he is scheduled for a recurrent training assignment, unless he agrees otherwise.”
The PC scheduling desk initially called me to assign a PC with 7 days notice. I objected, the reference is pretty clear in the contract.
It doesn't seem to bother people in the company to blatantly violate the pilot CBA whenever it suites them.
Awaiting resolution for a contractually compliant PC date. In the mean time, I sit at home getting paid for my dropped trips and the crew desk is offering senior manning for the 76T fleet....

Well, situation solved, not as good as I had hoped, but in accordance with the notification requirements of 15 days in the contract.
PC desk now remembers this provision in the contract. It took a call from me, the FODM, LEC, ALPA training committee, grievance, and CP to get this fixed.
Frustrating, but fixed. Dropped 4 trips with pay.

I like your style. It's people like you that will eventually force the company to start following the contract. I owe you a beer.

Thanks, I'd love to take you up on it, but SFO pretty much only flies a couple of places these days. BOS, JFK, CDG, and LIH. Hit and miss other places.
If you like SJC, you get more variety.
