I have a 3 day 17-19th. A cherry 4 day (16-19th) that shows late and ends early comes open this am at 9:20. Last seniority trade has run, too late for that. Called scheds and union rep, and basically no way to execute this trade. What a bunch of crap. Basically, in my bes you have no way of trading unless it is exact day for a day in the seniority system. Thanks again Alpa. The scheduler tried to help and "wished she could as we used to be able to make this trade, but we are now forbidden from doing it".
Gee sorry if i feel a little entitled as a major airline pilot to think that i may move a day around every once in a while.

Oh yes im sure we will get this solved in the next contract....so f@#$ing tired of hearing that. Rant over.....

I know man. At least now there is a 9 seniority trade as well. (3,7,9,11AM + 3,7,9,11PM)You would think they would put one at 10 instead then open it up to reserves at 11 but that might make too much sense. They could run it every 5 minutes if they wanted to. Contract says that it has to be run at least every 4 fours. Doesn't specify a maximum.

If it makes you feel any better it will happen again! Kidding as I have missed many a trip like this

My only suggestion is to email the VP of Flight Ops and tell him how you feel. If enough of us do that MAYBE the company will realize that keeping the trading locked down is not actually good for them and loosening the reins a little might increase morale and increase coverage overall.

Anyways, just a thought.

I don't understand it either, you can only pick up open time, or trade a trip for another with same days. Trading a two day for a four day or vice versa hasn't worked for me yet.

Do not email management with your frustrations! This is very dangerous recommendation. It will serve no purpose except to possibly land you in trouble.

I don't know what you are doing but I have moved trips up and down the week and 4 days for 3 days. If your a 737 captain, good luck, not going to happen. But as a 737 fo yes you can.

You are correct. I think the point Sunvox was trying to make was that the COMPANY and NOT ALPA causing the trade problems.

Stopping the special deals for the choose few is good and ALPA did that.
