Nothing has changed.
So come Oct.15 you'll be wearing your hat?!
"The winter uniform policy is COAT and hat are required..."
But you don't HAVE to wear your small wings on your uniform shirt. They are "preferred" for it.

Don't care either way...
Maybe I'm just jealous. I can't wear my leather jacket cause the new wings don't fit like my old United ones did, and going international I wouldn't be able to anyway....
Just playing devil's advocate.
Enjoy the weekend....

How about wear it if you want to. Who gives a S? This is the BS that comes with a slow few months I guess.

Some of you guys should write for Cosmo I think. I could give a sh&t what you wear. Wear your old UAL wings. Half of your guys do anyways. Who cares?

The hat is not required by the FOM when wearing the leather "jacket".

And the hat looks absolutely foolish on some. It reminds me of Ralph Kramden and his bus driver uniform.

We could all wear prom dresses and it would make no difference to anyone.

You certainly wont see a bunch of hat wearing L-UAL guys whenever "hat season" begins. In my view, that's more than a fair trade off for the ten year beating we took until Delta gave us a contract.
Not completely true. There was an era in which the airlines competed with ocean liners. Passengers were concerned with this "new" way to cross the oceans as opposed to what was considered the norm. So, in addition to inspiration from Naval uniforms, it was very much on the mind of airline execs to also model uniforms after civil maritime ocean liner crews.

Only for international. If you wear the leather jacket you don't have to wear the hat. Hat only required if you choose to wear the coat. Here is a simple summary to the uniform policy:

Summer:
Short sleeve shirt with or without hat.
Coat with hat
Leather jacket with or without hat.

Winter:
Coat with hat
Leather jacket with or without hat

International:
Coat with hat
