With 250+ guppies currently plus the 100 growth guppies being delivered, you'd think they would have planned better.

Why exactly would one think that? :D
I should instead of "they" I should have put "competent managers".

Yes….great for them.

Horrible for the guys waiting for a legitimate bid.

For every winner, there's a loser who just so happens to be senior.

Not good.

And of course those guys who can pull it off have 17 or 18+ years of unbroken longevity on the property.

So please explain to me what a "legitimate" bid is exactly? I had a legitimate captain bid and was legitimately flying it until early 2010 when I was legitimately BUMPED off of it. Most of the 17 to 18 year guys did too.

I'm talking about a guy who is near 9,000 in seniority taking a Captain spot while #6900 (who has 17 years) can't get a bid.

A "legitimate bid" is when we all get to bid and the more senior pilot gets the nod.

That's a result of the merger, combined with politics, combined with greed. The money that some guys will lose because of pilots in seats out of seniority is staggering.

Yeah….like $5,000 per month for YEARS.

No doubt about it....

pilot64golfer 10-16-2014 02:38 PM

But I guess the only good thing is that when they do get a seat commensurate with their seniority, they will have a buffer of reserves already in place.

Per month......

Uhh ... no. It's a result of what L-UAL brought to the table. The fruits of the merger that so many of you were (and still are) hungry for wasn't to be had until there was a JCBA ... during the time from OMD to effective date of the JCBA, UCH managed TWO separate pilot groups under TWO separate contracts ... the CAL contract grew pilots jobs, while the UAL contract didn't ... even if UCH wanted to grow the UAL side, the L-UAL contract DIDN'T ALLOW IT ... you can thank the MP change for the delay extracting your windfall and having to sleep in the bed you made (err living with the contract you brought to the table) ... Now back to the regularly scheduled humptity bumpity programming. ;)
