United DEC 9 Class

Any info on class drop for United Dec. 9th class?

A couple guys coming back from furlough returnees, a few coming back from LOAs, 4 FTIs (fleet technical instructors) and approximately 20 new hires. Mock bid was done today, looks like the first two will take the 737 EWR, and everyone else will be on the a350

A350?

I assume you meant A320, if not, those guys are the luckiest bastages ever who will get to be paid sitting at home waiting for aircraft to arrive in probably 3ish years!

Wow, last bid said something like 114 unfilled guppy spots, another 150 just left EWR with this same bid. Going to be a fun summer, bring on the senior manning.

Sorry about that, I don't know why it says A350, it is the A320.

On a related note, the Dec 2 class was able to participate in the last vacancy bid. Sounds like everyone that wanted out of EWR was able to bid out.

Why so few 737 slots? With it being the growing fleet wouldn't you expect there to be more 737 slots than A320 slots?

Could be no training capacity....classes full.

They can't release current pilots to training unless they have new pilots coming in behind them. There has been a lot of movement on the 737 but almost all of it is lateral and requires no training. On the other side almost all the CA upgrades and movement into the 737/777 have come from the 320. In order to upgrade the CAs and 777 FOs we need we have to put new hires on the 320. They can hold the 737 pilots tell the last day of the bid and then activate them without training and that is exactly what they will do.
