SFO Council 34 WiFi
#21
That may be true, but the signal is not strong enough to get down into the basement of SFO Flt ops. I could be wrong, this is what the SFO office people told me the T-Mobile people told them.

Notice to all ALPA members:
However, as a result, the ALPA WiFi will be turned off when the iPads are disbursed. We have the speed and bandwidth to handle just about anything, (better than SkiFi) but ALPA backstopping the companies lack of infrastructure will not happen again.
I do not know if other councils might be considering this same action. The ALPA computer will remain on and available to those who might use it.

Weren't you applying to be an iPad SME in another topic? This sounds like a sour grapes move.

This is not my call, but our LEC's. I agree with the decision, regrettable as it is. My purpose in this post was to inform the forum and members. No additional agenda or implications. Reading too much into it.

As of this morning the ALPA Council 34 SFO wireless internet is off till further notice.
The ALPA computer in the break room is still available, as are 2 active Ethernet cords by the printer.
Thanks all. Dave Fitzgerald

To All:
SFO ALPA Council 34 wireless is back on, same settings as before, no changes. I also have word that 2 domicile ski-fi's are up and running. There is also a new T-Mobile signal booster in flight ops for the new iPads.
Thanks for everybody's patience. It seems UAL now had at least this part of their act together.

The ALPA wireless is down in UAL SFO ops. All ALPA members are welcome to use the internet courtesy of Council 34. The password is posted on the ALPA board and in the lounge.
I know ORD, DEN, and LAX all offer similar benefits. I'm not sure if any of the other bases do.
