A 76t guy's only way into another 756 base is through a BAT only, even if there is a vacancy posted for that base? I'm just trying to figure this out, thanks.

my understanding is that it's the other way around. Now that the LOA providing the BAT option has been canceled the only way a 76t driver can bid into the 756 fleet is through a vacancy bid. If that 76t pilot qualified into the fleet in the past 24 months I don't think they can bid over to the 756.

I believe you wouldn't incur a freeze going from the 756 to 76t or visa versa. The reason is because the amount of training required to do that is below the contractual number of days of training to incur a freeze. I think it is something like 12 or 13 days if I remember correctly. 2 days 756 to 76t, 4 days 76t to 756. I went 756 to 76T and that's what they told me. They said no freeze. Also, you could never "BAT" out of the base you were already in. Bat was just to switch to the other sub fleet in the same base. If you want to switch sub fleet and Base it could only be done through a vacancy.

So, earlier the word was that April was going to be mostly, if not all, 737 and A320. That was welcome news to me because I'm a young west coaster heading to the 4/21 class... does that massive DCA 756 number not bode well for my personal, not-on-property-yet entitled desires?

Duvie..If some of the SFO 737 spots go unfilled..they may be offered in some of the future class drops. Good luck. I'm hoping for one in May too. Well, LAX is my first choice but I haven't seen any in the class drops that I know of.

Thanks AviatrixRN. I'm not even hoping for SFO out of training, I was just feeling pretty lucky that I'd get on an A/C that you can get SFO within 6 months. If they go back to the 12 756 slots and 8 or so 737/A320 slots per class (a la February and March), then being one of the younger/more junior guys in class with the SFO still being 76T and the fleet combo still a year away... you get the picture.

I'm not too worried about the commute, just trying to figure out what I'll need to do for my family in the next 12 months or so. Ultimately, it will be what it is I suppose and I understand other guys/gals have more complicated family situations than mine

Thanks for the info everybody
