The problem is this qualification over the years has been a moving one. At one time, late 60s, UAL hired private pilots with college degrees and paid for their commercial ticket at "Clinton Aviation" in Denver before S/O training began. It would be easy to think they did this because of a "shortage" of applicants but the reader would be wrong thinking such thoughts. Then in 1985 UAL hired "Fleet Qualified" pilots who could step right into the left and right seats of the airplanes. Problem was a few (or more) of these men and women are and were some of the most disturbing people ever hired.
Qualified simply means this, one got through the hiring process of the day they were hired. So all those who get puffed up please exhale a bit; you got the job so enjoy!

Resurrecting this thread with a question: Following a CP Meet & Greet event, is there a way to tell if the person you met with has written a recommendation or not?
Some background: I was fortunate enough to get set up with an M&G. I think it went well enough, and at the end he handed me his card and directed me to send him an LOR request through airlineapps, similar to what I have done for my other United LORs. Its been a little while now and I still haven't seen an additional LOR pop up on my airlineapps UAL addendum.

You can have your current pilot who set up the M&G reengage the CP. he/she can be tactful and still apply pressure. If it has been more than 30 days then you have every right to ask.

I'll ask when the time is right, luckily my contact who set me up is a great guy and due to his role I'm sure interacts with the CP often; it sounds like they have a great relationship. I just want to be tactful!
