This is going to significantly affect staffing on the 756/76t fleet. Now crews can fly a PS bird then transition into the rest of the system. Should make SFO and LAX flying better for commuters and worse for those who like the 2 days. It may also mark the end of the 756/76t base in SFO if CDG goes to the 787.......
This could weight heavy on peoples bidding strategy.

I flew PS for a lot of years. Most of the passengers flew out of JFK precisely because they would never go to EWR. Like many of UAL's decisions in the last 3 years, we will lose the majority of the PS people, and significant portion of that revenue 1st class PS will go to Delta and American.
There were almost no connections anywhere out of JFK, the entire plane's load's destination was JFK. What's more, we will lose is the PS passenger that connected to the pacific and further out of SFO and LAX.
We made huge amounts of money there and now just giving it away...again.

Did you read the statement about the JFK PS flights being some of the worst performing flights in the system?

Do you think moving PS to EWR is going to help? The service we provide as Premium Service today is two or three classes below what Delta and American offer. That in a nutshell is the problem and moving it to EWR is not going to fix it. Maybe the next step is to eliminating PS service on transcons all together. You can't blame the market when you can't or don't want to offer a competitive product.

Also, from the fleet manager at DENTK, the merger of the 76T and 756 was slated for APR, but he says the latest is now MAY 2016 and feels confident they are on schedule for that.

I think you missed the part that a new 756 base is opening in both SFO and ORD before the end of the year. Therefore SFO will have a base.

There is just not that much 757 flying going around to have EWR,DCA,ORD,IAH,LAX,SFO. Something is going to give.
