5 calls. It really depends on which flight office you are dealing with as to whether they want to try to make a big deal about it. If you end up running afoul of the 5 call "rule", just contact your union rep. I'm sure the would be HAPPY to help you navigate the local flight office

Just to be clear, and for all the new guys being hired, pay attention to what follows.

The 5 sick calls thing is completely arbitrary, has no demonstrated past practice, and as stated depends on what flight office you have and how vindictive they are. This is purely and simply an intimidation tactic to try and keep people from calling in sick. Read, they are still short on manpower.

It is not in the contract, and is completely arbitrary and contrary to the FAR's and against the statement you make when you sign and fill out your medical.

To be clear, THE COMPANY HASN'T A LEG TO STAND ON! if you are sick, call in sick. If you are California sick, and need time off to care for family, call the crew desk and state you are California sick.

Further, for the new guys, if you don't have any built up sick leave, you can still call in sick any time you need to, it will just be unpaid. If you have a problem, take it to the union first, and if needed, to the FAA.

By all means if someone calls or tires to put you on this sick call monitoring, fill out a NASA ASRS or FSAP report and state pilot pushing. HR policies have nothing to do with us, the contract, or the FAR's.

New hires start with approx. 60 hrs of sick bank time on day one actually.

That's correct. It gets paid back over the course of year one @ 5hrs per month.

On a Florida sick call right now.

Caught a bunch of grouper this morning while nursing this sinus infection.
