As a new guy on the 756 in EWR (hired 6/13) I have been to 15 places in Europe. I have been to 3 hawaii islands, and Aruba a handfull of times. Rarely am I IRO to Europe. Aggressive pick up allowed me to get FO trips almost all of the time. (Not sure how new aggressive pickup rules change things because I'm a line holder now). I'd say if you want to fly the 757-767 international, do it. Ewr 737 lines suck. 756/76T junior line holders get more days off a month and more commutable trips. Lots of 737 friends of mine wish they came to the 756 and some are in training all over again now. Some don't want to go to training because more time away from family. Hands down as a new hire I would choose 756 over 737, Airbus any day.
What's that old joke, the couple is in the car in Coney island getting hot and heavy when the girl whispers, " I want you to kiss me where it stinks" at which point the guy starts up the car and drives her to Jersey!

Edited....I just looked at the May EWR 756 bid award. My seniority there would've gotten 11-13 days off. I had to go up 40 numbers to find a line with 14. 100 numbers above a small handful with 14 and 1 with 15. Yeah, our 73 lines suck. I'm curious how you are figuring 756/76T guys have more days off?

I recently got the good news and will be in class. How senior is ORD on the 73 or bus? That's about the only base I can get to easily without a two leg commute. If it's forever on reserve then a 2-legger to EWR or IAD might be better.

I had to lose that attitude. You have 15 minutes to call them back if you're on reserve, and don't have to at all if you're not.
I can almost guarantee you that they aren't calling you to offer you a great deal, especially if you're at the bottom of the rocket list.
On my last day off before a reserve block, Crew Skeds calls at 1300ish. Like an idiot, I answer.
"You have 0600 SC tomorrow"
"But wait! Tomorrow is my first day on reserve. You can't schedule me until 1000"
"Yeah, but you answered the phone. Now you can get the required rest before your duty period starts"
"So basically, I'm getting screwed for being a nice guy/professional and answering the phone"
"Basically, yes"
"Well, that won't happen again"
And it hasn't.

737 is third most senior after Denver (1) and Houston (2).
