UAL reserve and commuter policy

20-K-6-d Ten (10) hours notice is required prior to the start of a Short Call assignment, if the Short Call assignment is given to a Reserve from 0000 to 1759. Twelve (12) hours notice is required prior to the start of a Short Call assignment, if the Short Call assignment is given to a Reserve from 1800 to 2359.

I've made a spreadsheet for myself based on minimum call-out times, and I don't see how I can sit at home with a 24hr window and 12hr call out. Not with 2 flights per the commuting policy anyway. It's the hours between 1900 and 2200 that it gets tricky. If I were called at 1900 for 0700 show, I couldn't make the last pax flight. FDX would be my only option. I have a 2-leg commute, but even if I lived next to ATL, it would still be very tricky.
So... not sure I can ever sit at home on LC. How long does it take to get from JFK or LGA to EWR (and cost)?

Depends on the time of day, but figure between 1 and 2 hours and as cheap as a few bucks, public transit, up to about 70 with the limo service we use for the hotels.
Keep in mind that depending your fleet you will have to cover LGA and JFK as well in Your callout time.

The Bus covers both EWR and LGA. If you do get EWR, just get a crash pad for the first few months until you get a feel for how the reserve system works first hand. You're going have an aneurysm stressing over it in the mean time.

EWR 73 covers LGA and EWR. There are always tons of very early AM LGA trips in open time that get assigned to reserve. If that happens, you get cross town pay which roughly covers the cost of a Golden Touch Limo one way.

One of the reasons I chose the A320 was because I wanted to fly out of LGA. When I last looked there were more departures out of LGA on the Bus than the Guppy. I was planning a crash pad in Kew Gardens. Very easy to get to LGA from there. Think of how many trips you could score with aggressive pick up because very few want to pick up LGA. If you get shacked with an EWR, hop on LIRR (Kew stop) to Penn then train to EWR. 2hours and much cheaper than paying for rides.

Another question about the commuter policy... If I have one flight out of one airport and a second flight out of another airport that I can drive to, does that qualify as 2 flights?
