PG;
Good god man, a voice of reason.

You can opt for a pure short call line. I think it pays 75 or 76 hours. The problem is I can bid a normal reserve line, and get 81-85 hours. Change the "short call line" guarantee? Not sure. Maybe pay short calls whether they volunteer or not? Many possible tweeks.

Global fleets reserve going into days off? LUAL, that is the way it has always been, because you can't split up a trip. The solution? Many possibilities. GUM pilots can get 18 days on reserve in a row. Your layover can count as your 30 hours every 7 days. Some pilots would love this, some would scream loudly.

Domestically? How often does it happen? If it is often, it should get premium or add pay.

Commuting to reserve? Too bad, so sad. Unless you are a new hire. Other than that, you chose badly, grasshopper.

I do too. Where we differ is how we get there. You think turning this thing down and going into Section 6 because there are no improvements to reserve (note no concessions either.... the company didn't get what they wanted on the reserve end) is what's best for those that are junior. I do not. I've come to the conclusion that accepting this agreement is the better of the two options for ALL United pilots. It's definitely not a case of "ladder up". If anything, it feels to me like reserve pilots are playing the "it's all about me card" by wanting to turn down a large, industry leading pay package merely because there aren't improvements to reserve rules.

Yup

I am mostly happy with the reserve system. If they are short, any reserve system sucks. The solution? Better Manpower planning? Good luck on that. I don't want, or would accept, that job.

My only improvements to our system?

FSB should be add pay.
SC rocks. no change.

Rolling into RDO's. Domestically, add pay or premium pay.

Global rolling into RDO's. Nada. Sorry. Too many 4-10 day trips. You bid it. To bad, so sad. Maybe 18 days in a row option?????

Commuting to reserve? Too bad, so sad. Nothing for you. Nada. Zero.

Our reserve system is so good, I bid it half the time. Some people don't like not having control of their life. For them, they shouldn't bid a seat where they are on reserve. If they do. Too bad.

A 777 Capt at the bottom of his BES complaining??? YGTBFKM!!!!!!!
You must be a joy to sit next to on your 14 hour flight.

Did I mention, I am a "yes" voter on this?

Fitzgerald is a joy to fly with. Class act and nothing but good things to say about flying with him.

Agree with FSB Add Pay.
Would like to see Add Pay for EVERY day of SC (or a SC only line with higher guarantee like it was)
Why only Add/ Premium pay for rolling into days off for domestic? Global should also be Add Pay.
Although, would like to see some language of OFF days are OFF!
AND, I personally don't like 6 HDOs in a row. screws with the bidding logic.
And I bid reserve for better QOL.
Most LIKELY a YES for me, IF the "rumors" are true....
Haven't flown since Sept. 4th.....

Ha! And, wow! I don't understand much of it (differing acronyms and phraseology), but thank you for the lengthy reply. It appears Delta's is far simpler. We don't have pure SC lines. Max of seven SCs per month. No extra pay for sitting SC, no matter if used or not. Reserve guarantee is a min of 72 hours and can go higher based on Average Line Value of that month's lines; with few exceptions, it's ALV minus 2.

Reserve goes fairly senior in many categories.

Good luck with your vote.

Fair skies...

p.s. Are you an encyclopedia or did you copy and paste? ;-)

Will read the TA if we get it and decide then one way or another. But want to know who and why reserve didn't get addressed when company put it on table. Our APU, VDO, and CC reserve assignment pickup are better for reserve QOL than most other places. But the huge gaps in the contract language make SC and FSB conversion and Global Reserve rolls a beating. The fact that nothing was done, if that is in fact the case, is frustrating. That frustration will not prevent me from voting for the totality of the offer, but am going to find out why this wasn't addressed and then look for negotiators willing to do better.
