New hire question: Is this how to get the in-laws into the air (I actually like them!) or is there a better way?

A great deal depends on how well they understand flying standby. My elderly in-laws tried it once and they didn't make it out the first day and went back home and then canceled the visit. Leaving the house to get groceries is a big deal to older folk, much less packing and driving an hour to the airport and then not flying.

I researched the change to international travel recently....got very vague answers...."sometime this summer".

Word of caution when "prepaying with a credit card": they are "stuck" with that routing. ie difficult to change which hub they traverse.

Question international buddy pass

I am scheduled to fly internationally on a buddy pass. My friends husband has worked for United for over 30 years. Is it true if anything happens where my friend can't go...I will still be able to travel without her?

This is a three year old thread.

For specifics on the current policy have your friends look up the rules on United's internal website. There are full details there.
