Great update, thank you! Any idea how far out they are assigning class dates right now? Are the rest of the classes this year filled? I'm trying to get an idea of how far out they're placing people.

Thanks

Are you speaking of the AA Wholly Owned carriers? The guaranteed flow?
I've been reading about that as well. Comparatively...pilots that go through the traditional way (interview at a regional and work there until your at minimums to work at a major) are more successful in the long run. It's made me change my mind.

30 days prior to class they will fill them with people from the pool. That is because the guys coming back from leave have until 30 days prior to notify them of their intent to return.

In the latest FOU, one of the chief pilot updates stated both 2017 and 2018 calling for 1000 pilots and 400 "new captain vacancies" for 2017, fwiw.

What's the most junior Capt now?

Awarded in a bid, but not yet active was just over 9400 out of around 12550. Puts it about 75%.

So about a 2000 L-UAL or 2007/8 L-cal. I was just reading the Delta thread about the 4 month captain. I don't know if United will get to that point, but we shall see.

It's because that upgrade is on a dieing fleet, and probably in NYC

It certainly is in NYC...I'm not sure why a dying fleet would factor in. I've had pretty good luck being on equipment being phased out. It usually is a good opportunity to fly very little. Although the 76T worked out better than the dying guppy
