Latest SSC report said we are looking at a reduction in flying for next summer that equates to 230 fewer new hires between now and then.......stayed tuned August report will say they want another 300 above what was planed

Totally agree.

You may, or may not like it. And, in this case, you really don't lose anything by going Delta now. It's not like your losing seniority at UAL by choosing Delta. I do hope that Delta's labor-relations improve. I am sure they will.

Remember, don't cross the picket line if they go on strike. I see they manned up a strike center today.

thanks! yep that is the plan. Uber fortunate to have this kind of option... but staring a NYC 2 leg commute vs a 1 leg SFO commute, or even a long drive is so tempting....

Hate to bump an old thread, but I'd really hate to start a new thread just for an update. Long time reader and first post here:
Does anybody know when the new hire classes are slated for moving forward & how big they're going to be?
In reference to all the guys hired in the spring- Are they really waiting for a UA class date or is DL/AA/FDX scooping them up? When are they expected to start?
Thanks!

I know of a few in the UAL pool that are headed to DAL, but I wouldn't think that the overall number is too significant.

Same exact thing happened last year when DAL had so many in the pool along with AA. UAL was offering immediate classes and scooped them up before they could get class dates at the others.

And the same exact thing happened over two years when UAL was backed up on 73 training capacity. UAL was a 4-5-6+ month wait for a class while DAL could send right away.

Amazing how that's gone both ways thus far.
