Amazing how that's gone both ways thus far.

It seems a bit unclear how many of the seats in the remaining classes will go to new hires vs returnees yet this year as well.

Anyone know when they'll release what 2017 will look like from a hiring schedule? (classes/mon...)

Nothing official.

An earlier manpower planning update mentioned two per month starting in January but that's pretty useless information without the number per class. In the past three years UAL has run classes of less than 10 and larger than 50 with the average obviously somewhere in the middle.

It always changes this far out anyway (in both directions) but the one consistent bit of info is increased tempo starting in January to spool up for the summer 2017 schedule. And the 2017 flying hours are still in flux.

The last update stated they were expecting a 2% drop in flying next summer.

Annnnd.....this is how rumors get started. ;)

Note that it was a anticipated 2% decrease from their earlier projection and not a 2% reduction from this year.

So the question we need to know is: what was their exact projection to start with???

They're not talking, other than it was originally an increase. Oh, and they also mentioned that nothing was finalized since marketing is still working on their "plan" which drives the bus anyway. Standby to standby.

I thought it was 2% systemwide (including regionals) but only something like 0.5% mainline.

People with mid-May CJO's have been told to expect Jan 2017 classes.

I'm a mid-May CJO and have not been advised anything other than Oct/Nov...

Where did this info come from? I haven't been told anything either.

FWIW I heard that United is taking "CCP" pilots instead of 'off the street hires'. I'm not sure what's happening here though. I don't really understand it but I think they're 1) trying to create movement at the regionals to entice new hires there 2) take an appreciable hires amount of the preferential interview guys to make the program look worth it.
I could be wrong...
